David Claerbout

David Claerbout was born in 1969 in Kortrijk, Belgium. From 1992 to 1996 he studied Visual Arts at the Nationaal Hoger Instituut voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerp and at the Rijksacademie van Beeldende Kunst in Amsterdam. He has had one-person exhibitions at Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre, Dundee, Scotland; Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, The Netherlands; Galleri K, Oslo and Centro de Arte Contemporanea de Galicia, Santiago di Compostela, Spain. His works have been included in the exhibition Belgique Visionnaire, organized by Harald Szeeman at the Palais des Beaux-Arts, Brussels, and at venues such as Montevideo, Amsterdam; Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna; SMAK Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst, Ghent, Belgium; Zentrum fur Kunst und Medientechnologie, Karlsruhe, Germany; De Appel, Amsterdam; Centre pour l'image contemporaine, Geneva, Switzerland; MuHKA Museum of Contemporary Art, Antwerp, Belgium; and FRI ART Centre for Contemporary Art, Fribourg, Switzerland.

Clarebout lives and works in Berlin and Antwerp.
