Moholy-Nagy, Light Space Modulator, 1922 - 1930 (rebuilt
1960s)
Exhibited at the Howard Wise Gallery in 1970, Light Space Modulator
was described by Moholy-Nagy as an "apparatus for the demonstration
of the effects of light and movement." The following excerpt is

Julio
Le Parc, Boule sur Ressort, 1963-65
This documentation of a kinetic sculpture by Argentinian experimental
artist Julio Le Parc (b. 1928), was part of the On the Move
exhibition at the Howard Wise Gallery in 1964. At the forefront
of the kinetic art movement, Le Parc was a founding member of the
French Groupe de Recherche d'Art Visuel. The following
excerpt is footage shot by Alfred Hitchcock in preparation for the

Len
Lye Interview (1965)
On the occasion of his solo exhibition at the Howard Wise Gallery
in 1965, experimental filmmaker and artist Len Lye (1901-1980) discusses
his work The Loop (1964), in the following interview. Producing
his most widely recognized work in kinetic art after moving to New
York in the 1940s, Lye intently pursued the translation of movement

Paul Williams, Light Hemisphere, 1967
Paul Williams' Light Hemisphere, a transparent Plexiglas
semi-sphere housing garlands of small lights programmed to flash
at certain intervals, was exhibited at the Howard Wise Gallery in
1967 as part of the large group exhibition Lights In Orbit.

Thomas Tadlock, Quadrilateral Light Case With Changing Geometric
Designs, 1967
An experiment in light, Tadlock's sculpture of random geometric
patterns was exhibited at the Howard Wise Gallery as part of the
Lights In Orbit exhibit in 1967. Tadlock was later also
a participant of the gallery's TV as a Creative Medium

Martin, Game Room from British Broadcasting Corporation,
Tomorrow's World program, Part II (1968)
The BBC program explores Tony Martin's Game Room (1968)
in further detail. Outfitted with photo-electric cells which turn
different elements of the project on and off, the Game Room
is a highly interactive and experiential project which allows the
