Winter Journal 1997 marks Campus' return to video after more than twenty years, during which time he made photographs and computer-based images of natural landscapes. In this haunting piece, Campus juxtaposes a melancholy rural landscape with a metaphorical fragmentation of the self. A man (the artist) and a woman recite a fragmented text that suggests an implied narrative against the brooding winter landscape.
