Arcangel brings a willfully lo-fi aesthetic to his manipulation of a consumer video recording of a 1984 Simon and Garfunkel concert, one of a series of works using this footage as source material. While the title aptly describes the result of his obsessive process, his concerns also lie with the event's low-tech reproduction and dissemination. Investigating the social production of celebrity and its representations, Arcangel touches on issues of bootlegging, amateurism, and a culture in which participation can border on obsession.

This piece, which is a single-channel, un-editioned video work, has also been re-enacted as a live performance. States Arcangel, "I said, Why don't I just do that live-so I made a note sheet of all the times he puts his hands in his pockets, and live I'll just fast-forward it to each one, so that turned into a total live performance. I like that because those pieces are all about, What is perception, what is video? To me, there's this whole thing about editing. I tend to be really strict with myself. I like it when people can understand everythingÉ I just did it by standing in front of my TV."
