EAI is pleased to present a conversation between Cory Arcangel and critic and curator Ed Halter at the New Museum, in conjunction with a one-day pop-up of “multinational software & merchandise publisher” Arcangel Surfware, a brand which produces wearables and publishes texts, software, and artists’ projects. The pop-up event is presented as part of the exhibition “The Art Happens Here: Net Art’s Archival Poetics,” featuring sixteen works from across net art history. The conversation will accompany the live uploading of a TXT file containing a new essay by Halter on Arcangel’s work, produced with the support of the Thoma Foundation. The talk will discuss Cory Arcangel’s multifarious digital art works, including his anthropological screen-capture desktop documentaries which mine in real-time the architecture of major brand’s websites, including OfficeMax, Dunkin’ Donuts, Subway, and Starbucks. Free with price of New Museum admission.
