Gladia Daters

2005, 28:30 min, color, sound

In Gladia Daters, Bag constructs a grisly half-hour of television using the format of a reality dating show. Bag appears as JoJo, a weathered female contestant sporting an infant and a tracheotomy scar, who drinks and dances as her three suitors compete for a date. Punctuated with flashy graphics, techno music and talking-head interviews with the contenders, this grotesque parody of barroom courtship and "reality" romance skewers a wide range of cable TV tropes. Bag interrupts the program with her self-made commercials for Johnson & Johnson and Proctor & Gamble products.
