Dark Light

1994, 6:40 min, color, sound

Writes Gorewitz, "This is the contemplation of beauty and nature: light crossing darkness, movement over form. The first two segments were recorded in Hiroshima... The fishing segments were recorded in Jamaica off the coast of Cousin's Cove in Hanover Parish. I was reminded, watching the night fishing, of the night fishing I'd seen in Japan. Fire as bait, birds as tackle. Sometimes in the morning the sky and the sea merge, a hallucinatory mystical moment, so easily duplicated with digital video."
